Kviz!

2012 – 2014

In 2013, I launched Kviz!, a mobile trivia game designed to make learning engaging and accessible for Lithuanian users. The app brought a fresh approach to educational gaming with a simple yet addictive mechanic.

Rules were simple: players have 10 minutes to answer as many questions as possible, progressing through six difficulty levels, but a single wrong answer ends the game. Yet, you had three types of lifelines to choose from to use it once during the game:

  • Right Path — Eliminates all wrong answers;
  • 50:50 — Removes two wrong options;
  • Question Veto — Provides an alternative question.

The technical challenge lay in creating a smooth, engaging experience while managing a complex backend of question databases. We built a custom progressive difficulty system and implemented bunch of features:

  • Custom question management system
  • Real-time leaderboard
  • Achievement tracking system
  • Social sharing capabilities

Through pure word of mouth, we reached 100,000 downloads in the first month. That’s roughly 3% of Lithuania’s population. Players began competing for high scores, sharing their achievements on social media, and challenging friends to beat their records. What started as a simple trivia game had become a national phenomenon, reaching far beyond our initial target audience of students to engage players of all ages. Over the years, more than 350,000 users have played Kviz!, making it one of the most successful Lithuanian-language mobile apps ever created.

Currently available on Google Play, Kviz! serves as an early example of combining education with mobile gaming in the Lithuanian market, paving the way for more sophisticated educational technology projects like ManoCO₂.
